Help a young person thrive
Every child deserves the chance to reach for the stars. Foster carers offer
that all-important lifeline for a child, providing them with
the stability they need.
In return, carers receive an emotional reward that cannot be matched –
the chance to see a child or young person thrive in their care.
Our carers receive…
Generous Payment Package
We offer a very competitive allowance to reward our carers for their hard work and help them do the very best for the child.
The fostering allowance helps to ensure the carer is in a position where they can stay at home and devote their full attention to the child, as well as pay for clothes, food, outings and special treats.
Additionally, you will receive festival and birthday allowances, as well as new placement start-up payment and long-term placement bonuses. We also reward our carers with an annual training bonus because we believe in the continued professional development of our carers.
From the moment you join the PICS family, you’ll be introduced to an entire community of support including our Fostering Advisors, Family Support Workers, Foster Carers and your very own dedicated Social Worker, who’s available whenever you need some advice. Plus, you’ll have access to our out-of-hours helpline, so you’ll never feel on your own.
Recognised by Ofsted for our high level of support, we have some of the lowest placement disruption rates and as a result continually deliver positive outcomes for children.
Specialist training & development
As well as our hands-on induction course, Skills to Foster, you’ll receive ongoing carer training throughout your time with us.
We also offer specialist courses to help you develop the skills needed to care for children with specific needs, such as autism and foetal alcohol syndrome.
All our training courses are delivered by our in-house training team and we also offer e-learning courses, to make it easy for you to gain the skills and knowledge you need to be an extraordinary carer.
Regular placement opportunities
We receive around 350 referrals from local authorities every single day, looking for foster homes for children and young people across the country.
Our dedicated Placements team expertly match children with carers based on their location, family dynamic and experience.
Extensive Family Support
We arrange regular events and fun days for the whole family to enjoy, to help you and your family build strong relationships with other carers and children in the PICS family.
This provides you with peace of mind that your foster child is in good hands while you take your well-deserved 22 days annual respite leave.
Streamlined assessment process
With our dedicated assessment team and experienced panel, our assessment process can take as little as three months.
We’re there every step of the way to offer you the support you need to make the process as quick as possible.
